About this tool
This tool is a web-based EV route planner built on top of Leaflet and the HERE Routing v8 API. It allows a user to:
• Search for start and destination locations using HERE Autocomplete (via Selectize.js).
• Visualize both points on a HERE Logistics base map with custom Placematic start and finish markers.
• Request an electric vehicle route using the HERE Routing v8 EV (physical consumption model) with detailed vehicle and battery parameters.
• Automatically add and display charging stops along the route when needed to reach the destination.
• See the full route on the map, split into segments between charging stations, with dedicated charger markers and popups.
• Inspect for each charger: arrival and target battery level, charging time, and estimated energy added (kWh).
• View a summary popup for the whole trip, including total driving time, total distance, total charging time, and total battery usage (in % and kWh).
• Inspect the exact CURL request used to query HERE Routing v8 with all EV parameters.
• View, copy, and download both the request and the full JSON response from HERE.
It’s designed as a developer-friendly demo / helper tool for working with HERE EV routing inside the Placematic environment, making it easy to understand how consumption settings, battery constraints, and connector types affect real-world EV routes and charging behaviour.
